Process steps from Raw material to Finished Product: This includes peeling, cutting to remove kernels, blanching (95°C, 6 minutes), blast freezing (-24°C, 2 hrs) and freeze drying (70 – 120°C in 8 hrs cycling process) under conditions hygienically controlled and monitored.

The product is present in the form of lactose monohydrate and is characterised as white powder with its typical odour and a slightly sweetish taste. MEGGLETOSE B 600 is gained from whey and refining takes place at approx. 97 °C (206 °F) for at least 30 minutes. The product is finely ground.
