BETAWELL® GALACTARIC ACID

GALACTARIC ACID

BETAWELL^® GALACTARIC ACID is a biobased chelating agent derived from sugar beet pulp. It has a Renewable Carbon Index (RCI) of 100% and is readily biodegradable. Therefore, it can be considered as a sustainable alternative to EDTA. Furthermore, it can boost the efficiency of various preservatives by enhancing the permeability of bacteria and mold cell membranes, making them more susceptible to biocidal attacks. Galactaric acid is an alpha hydroxy acid which is used as a peeling agent to accelerate exfoliation of dead skin cells and support the anti-aging claim. Moreover, it has an excellent buffering capacity around pH 5.
