ROSKYDAL 300/1 is a formulation of clear and pigmented UV-curing top coats with very good flow properties for application by spraying and curtain coating. After the addition of photo-initiators, ROSKYDAL 300/1 can be cured under UV lamps. When using high-pressure mercury vapour lamps with a capacity of 80 - 120 W/cm lamp length, standard commercial initiators can be used. However, their suitability for the intended application should be tested, especially with respect to storage stability, reactivity and yellowing. The use of 2.5 % Irgacure® 17001 or Irgacure 6511 is recommended for clear coats (max. application rate: 250 g/cm2). In the case of top coats, Baysilone® Paint Additive PL2 should be used to promote the flow properties. The addition of 2 % of a 1 % solution in toluene is recommended. Pigmented coatings should be formulated using 2 % Lucirin® TPO1 or other suitable photoinitiators. All the quantities given are calculated on the resin supply form. Clear coats may contain soluble dyestuffs and highly disperse silicas. Primers are formulated using highly disperse silicas and quartz powder. Soluble dyestuffsmay also be added. The addition of 5 - 10 % Desmodur® L or Desmodur N improves the adhesion. However, such combinations have a limited pot life (approx. 24 hours with a 5 % addition of Desmodur L).

ROSKYDAL 500 A is a formulation of clear and pigmented, wax-free coatings for wood and furniture, high-gloss to matt, with good chemical resistance and very good flow properties and scratch resistance. Also in the formulation of spray and curtain-coating fillers for wood, metal and plastic. Coatings based on ROSKYDAL 500 A cure to formhard, scratch-resistant films. The addition of ROSKYDAL 550 (up to 50 %, calculated on the resin supply form) or E 70 (up to 30 %) improves the flexibility and polishability of the films without reducing the scratch resistance. Fillers and putties can be flexibilized with ROSKYDAL E 65 or E 70. The use of ROSKYDAL E 65 is particularly recommended because of its air-drying properties. As is commonwith unsaturated polyester systems, coatings based on ROSKYDAL 500 A are cured with a cobalt/hydroperoxide combination. The cobalt not only splits the peroxide into free radicals but also promotes surface drying. It thus influences two independent but simultaneous reactions. As the breakdown of the hydroperoxide accelerates at higher temperatures, even without the addition of cobalt, it may be necessary to reduce the amount of cobalt added. Otherwise the surface drying will be much quicker than the polymerization of the film, which may result in surface defects. The cobalt/hydroperoxide ratio must be optimized for the formulation, film thickness, application method and drying conditions selected. The standard addition at room temperature is 0.02 - 0.05 % cobalt metal and 1 – 3 %

SETAL D RD 181 BA is the co-reactant for Desmodur HL, IL, L and N in the formulation of twocomponent PU coatings. SETAL D RD 181 BA is used in the formulation of coatings for wood, e.g. boats and parquet flooring.

ROSKYDAL K-36 is a binder for highly filled, coarse and fine knifing fillers for use on metal, wood and mineral substrates. Due to the high reactivity of ROSKYDAL K 36, fillers based on this product quickly cure to sandability, especially with sandingmachines. The hardness of ROSKYDAL K 36 is equivalent to that of a 1 : 1 combination of the hard ROSKYDAL K 14 M and the flexible ROSKYDAL K 60. ROSKYDAL K 36 is ideal for use as the sole binder for car body fillers. It can be made harder by the addition of ROSKYDAL K 14 M and more flexible by combination with ROSKYDAL K 60. The low viscosity of the resin promotes the wetting of the extenders, thus reducing the formulation time of fillers.
