Spirodela polyrhiza, commonly known as duckweed, is a species of aquatic flowering planting. In traditional East Asian medicine, whole S. polyrhiza is a diaphoretic with a cool property and is used to induce sweating, reduce fever, and as a diuretic and detoxifier. It was used to treat epidemic fever, dysuria, and skin ailments, such as measles eruption, eczema, and pruritis. Furthermore, S. polyrhiza has been reported to have anti-inflammatory and antiallergic effects.
