This property is strongly relevant to its most common cosmetic use as a moisturizer and humectant for both skin care and hair care formulations. Static light scattering experiments have shown that Cosphaderm® Hexiol can also be used to stabilize o/w emulsions by droplet size reduction. Another core property of 1,2-hexanediol is its pH-independent antimicrobial activity. It further shows remarkable synergistic effects in combination with other antimicrobial substances, making it possible to minimize the total amount of combined preserving agents.

Cosphaderm® Dicapo natural is a cost-efficient, multifunctional blend based on natural and COSMOS-approved caprylyl glycol in combination with glyceryl caprylate and propanediol. Caprylyl glycol is an emollient with Humectant abilities as well as skin and hair conditioning properties. Glyceryl caprylate is an emollient and co-emulsifier with moisturizing, wetting and refatting properties. Propanediol keeps the other two components in solution for ease of application and contributes Humectant and emollient properties to the blend. All three substances additionally have a mild but efficient antimicrobial character. Taken together, the blend has moisturizing and emollient properties while offering comprehensive antimicrobial protection over a broad pH-range in a wide variety of formulations.

Cosphaderm® AS is an organic acid with multifunctional properties. Due to its gentle and pleasant scent, Cosphaderm AS can be used as a masking agent to cover undesired odors from other ingredients. Anisic acid also provides strong antimicrobial efficacy at pH values below 6.0, especially against yeasts and molds.

Cosphagard® SA natural is 100% naturally sourced and COSMOS-approved salicylic acid made from natural wintergreen oil by mild fermentation and two-step purification. Salicylic acid has been sourced traditionally from willow trees.
