Luna-PC CeraAP, a Ceramide 6 II, also known as N-acylated sphingolipid, is a ceramide derived from phytosphingosine, a compound naturally found in the skin. This specific ceramide plays a vital role in maintaining skin health and integrity. Its distinctive structure resembles an alpha-hydroxy fatty acid, either saturated or unsaturated, contributing to its unique properties. In the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the skin), Ceramide 6 II constitutes approximately 16% of the total ceramide content in this layer. It is instrumental in reinforcing the skin barrier function, preventing moisture loss, and protecting the skin from external irritants. Luna-PC CeraAP strengthens the skin's lipid barrier, reducing moisture loss and improving the skin's defence against pollutants and irritants.
