The varieties differ in their essential oil and rosmarinic acid content. The leaves of the lemon balm are traditionally used to alleviate minor symptoms of stress and make it easier to sleep. Furthermore, they have proven themselves in the symptomatic treatment of mild gastrointestinal problems which are accompanied by the formation of gas, flatulence etc.
