GANTREZ S-97 BF polymer by Ashland Specialty Chemical acts as a film forming agent. It is a methyl vinyl ether and maleic acid copolymer used to deliver and hold actives on mucus membranes. It is water-soluble and results in clear, tacky solutions whose rheology can be modified with the addition of salts and bases.

GANTREZ MS-955 polymer by Ashland Specialty Chemical acts as a thickening agent. It is a mixed sodium and calcium salt of methyl vinyl ether and maleic anhydride copolymer. The polymer is slowly soluble in water resulting in amber-colored solutions with high viscosity and adhesion. The cations form salt bridges which crosslink the polymer chains.

ESCALOL S UV Absorber by Ashland Specialty Chemical provides broad-spectrum UVB/UVA absorption. In particular, it provides photostable, effective, and long-lasting protection against UVA radiation. It can boost the performance and the stability of commonly used UV filters. Its synergies with other filters can offer higher sun protection factor (SPF) ratings for UVB radiation, or photostability for longer-lasting UVA protection. Exhibits excellent compatibility with cosmetic ingredients. It has been approved in most countries (except for the pending US approval) for use as a sunscreen active in a concentration of up to 10%.
