The inception of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. traces back to the fusion of Nagano Prefecture's abundant water and Niigata Prefecture's limestone.
This harmonious union facilitated the birth of electric power, while Niigata's limestone, referred to as "Oyashirazu's great earth," played a pivotal role as a raw material. Leveraging these natural blessings, Shin-Etsu Nitrogen Fertilizer Co., Ltd. was established in September 1926, focusing on chemical fertilizer and limestone nitrogen production. This marked the genesis of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd., with "Shin" symbolizing Shinano and "Etsu" signifying Echigo, encapsulating the rich heritage of the company.
