Lowenol AHL-N is minoxidol-like derivative, that promotes vasodilation around the hair follicles. The mechanism is based on activation of potassium ion channels and improvement of microcirculation in the scalp, facilitating nutrient absorption and stimulating the proliferation of hair papilla cells. Additional activity inhibits the activity of 5α-reductase, thereby reducing the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), preventing hair follicle miniaturization. Lowenol AHL-U (DIAMINOPYRIMIDINE OXIDE) inhibits lysyl hydroxylase enzyme (LH) mRNA expression, interfering with fibroblast collagen production and prevents mature collagen deposition, thereby preventing hair follicle hardening and contraction-induced hair loss.
