Additionally, lowering water activity and thus limiting water availability to microorganisms allows a reduction of the antimicrobials required for preservation. Cosphaderm HAP is a cost-efficient, water-soluble multifunctional with strong antimicrobial activity, particularly effective against yeasts and moulds. It offers high pH stability in the range of 3 to 9 and does not affect the sensory or physical properties of the formulation. Thanks to its mild profile and its additional antioxidant properties, it is well-suited for a wide variety of formulations while maintaining effective preservation.

Cosphaderm® Octiol natural is a pure and colorless glycol. It is used as a moisturizer and Humectant for both skin care and hair care formulations. Static light scattering experiments have shown that Cosphaderm Octiol natural can also be used to stabilize o/w emulsions by droplet size reduction. Another property of caprylyl glycol is its pH-independent antimicrobial activity. It further shows remarkable synergistic effects in combination with other antimicrobial substances, making it possible to minimize the total amount of combined preserving agents.
